NAB seizes sixty thousand SP capsules from airport

IMPHAL, October 11: A team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) today apprehended a youth along with 60,000 Spasmo Proxyvon capsules from Imphal Tulihal Airport.  

The arrested youth has been identified as MK HR RAJ, 21, son of MK Isalaudin of Lilong Haoreibi Sambrukhong Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district. 

A press conference was called in today at NAB office and paraded the youth before media persons along with the seized drugs. Briefing media persons at NAB office, Officer-in-Charge RK Bikramjit said a team of NAB led by him under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, NAB, Md Issac Shah were deployed at Tulihal Airport after receiving specific information about the smuggling of a huge consignment of drugs. In the meantime, a youth who arrived at the Tulihal Airport from delhi on AIR India flight was seen moving in a suspicious manner along with two luggage. The youth was detained by the team and on checking the two luggage, Spasmo Proxyvon capsules numbering 60,000 capsules were found concealed in two bags with each bag containing 30,000 capsules, he said.

The estimated cost of the seized drugs is worth around three and half lakhs in grey market, he added.

On questioning, the arrested youth disclosed that the seized drugs were brought from different pharmaceuticals in New Delhi and were destined to spread in the markets of Manipur for the forthcoming festivals like Diwali, Durga Puja, Ningol Chakouba with a huge profit, he further added.

The officer appealed the general public not to indulge in such illegal drug trafficking and further requested to co-operate with the police and to inform of any such instance of selling/buying to fight against this kind of anti-social elements.
