IMPHAL, Jan 11: The All Manipur Student`s Union (AMSU) will organize an intellectual forum meeting on 13th January regarding the private school fee structure for the academic year 2013-14. “We will then submit a memorandum to the state government based on the resolutions of the meeting, ” said TH Suresh , President AMSU during a press conference held at the Union head quarters on January 10.

Suresh said that as a part of the AMSU transformation process regarding the education sector in Manipur, the Union had been keeping a check on unreasonable fee hikes in educational institutions since last year. “We are determined to stop private schools from getting into crass commercialization of the educations system in the state,” said Suresh adding that  AMSU had already already called for all private schools to submit their fee structure for the this year`s academic session.  “Till today, only 13 private schools including 1 CBSE board school has submitted their fee structure out of an estimated 200 private schools operating in the state,” Suresh added while validating the Union`s call for checks into school fee hikes as being a deterrent for poor students. Mentioning that the Government had sent out a notification to check against fee hike in the hill district, he said that the state government has remained as a mute spectator while private schools are running after profit margins.
