LAMKA, February 28: The Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) has announced that its ongoing public blockade on all Highways of Manipur which is inhabited by them stands suspended from 7.30 pm of February 28 due to an appeal made to them by the Kuki Student Organisation, KSO general headquarter (the apex student body of the Kuki) in view of the HSLC and HSSLC examinations conducted by the BSEM and COHSEM.

A press release from the body further said that the KSDC executive committee has resolved to launch another course of agitation.

The statement further slammed the government for militarizing Kuki inhabited areas in the state to escort the Bangladesh China India Myanmar car rally from Jiribam to Moreh in Chandel district.

The press release said that instead of addressing the impending issue raised by the KSDC, the Government imposed 144 CRPC to disperse bandh protesters which is against the principle of the teachings of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and also against the very fundamental principle of the largest democracy of the world.

The release said the BCIM car rally with an aim to herald a new era of regional cooperation and social development was welcomed with black flags.

“Development of the region will be ushered not by force but by peaceful co-operation of the local populace,” it said and added that the Kukis are not against development and progress but it should not be at the cost of the rights while adding that the struggle for a Kuki solution will go on.
