Ambulance distributed under NRHM for better medical services

IMPHAL, March 26 (NNN): T Phunzathang Tonsing Minister Health & Family Welfare today distributed 13 ambulance vans under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) to concerned authorities of valley districts of Manipur with an aim to meet the need of medical emergency service in remote areas.  

Manipur Government has to distribute 20 ambulance vehicles each to the hill and valley districts under NRHM in phase wise. The 13 ambulance vans were distributed for the first phase. 

Ram Muivah, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Dr A Bijoy, Director, Health Services and Dr O Ibomcha, Director, Family Welfare were also present at the function organized by the Department of  Health at Manipur Film Development Corporation (MFDC) hall, Palace Compound here.  

Minister Pungzathang while addressing the function, appealed to all the concerned to use the new ambulance vans in a proper way.

He said Manipur Government has to procure 40 ambulance vehicles for both the hill and valley under NRHM.

The policy has been initiated as the state Government feels the need of the poor in remote areas of the state who are facing difficulties while seeking medical treatment in the hospitals.

For the hill, he said, Bolero jeeps will be given as ambulance vehicles because of the poor road connectivity while vans have been provided for the valley areas.
