Banking facility soon in far flung areas: CM

IMPHAL, March 20: The Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh on Wednesday said the state government has a provision to provide banking facility in all the far flung areas of the state.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the opening function of an SBI branch at Gamnom, Sapermeina in Senapati district.

The government under the Composite Development Scheme will construct SDO office, bank building and staff quarter and security barracks at all the headquarters of the sub-divisions in hill districts, the CM said.  

The Chief Minister further said the government has taken up several projects to bring equal development to both hill and valley districts while pointing out that the government has given more priority in sectors like medical, education, electricity and drinking water.  

The Chief Minister also appealed the Chief general manager of SBI NE circle, who was present at the function to open similar branches of SBI in other sub divisions also and gave his assurance that the government will provide every kind of help for the same.

Under the NLCPR scheme, a water supply scheme will be set up at Gamnom, Sapermiena, he informed.

IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip, who attended the function as the Guest of honour, lauded the CM for his efforts in opening the branch and appealed the SBI officials to open an ATM booth also.

It may be mentioned that this is the 29th branch of the SBI in the state.

The function was also attended by MLA Yamthong Haokip, MLA Nemcha Kipgen, Sadar Hills ADC Chairman Haokholal Hangsing, SBI NE Chief General Manager Rajnish Kumar, Senapati Deputy Commissioner PK Jha, ADGP LM Khoute and other officials of the SBI.
