UNC`s 2nd council assembly held

IMPHAL, March 16 (NNN): The 2nd council assembly of the United Naga Council (UNC) was held at Kharam Pallen village, Senapati district on March 15-16 and was hosted by the Kharam Tribe Hoho.

The assembly was attended by the constituents tribes of the UNC,  Naga frontal organisations, such as the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur; the Naga Women Union and the Naga Peoples’ Movement for Human Rights (South) and also senior leaders of the Naga community.

The delegates to the Assembly were welcomed with a cultural programme by the villagers of Kharam Pallen. 

In the inaugural session, the president UNC in his keynote address stressed upon the need to uphold the unity of the Nagas and to be in preparedness, which is ever needed at the present moment and also in the days to come as they march on in history as a people.

The two-day programme discussed on agendas ranging from the tripartite talk process of the  Government of India, the Government of Manipur and the United Naga Council on the Naga people’s demand for an alternative arrangement outside the Government of Manipur; the Indo-Naga peace process and the imperatives for strengthening of the constituent tribes and the United Naga Council for engaging effectively with the emerging political developments. Important resolutions were adopted on the various matters of discussions that were tabled in the assembly.
