Court cancels earlier bail order to rape accused

IMPHAL, July 26: A Fast Track Court has today cancelled its previous order of granting anticipatory bail to a rape accused following an order of the High Court of Manipur.

The accused indentified as Phundreimayum Thoiba alias Thoi (26), son of Md Gaya alias Gayasuddin of Kwakta Ward No 8 had allegedly raped a girl when she was alone at her home on November 3 last year at around 7:30 pm.

The girl`s father reported the incident to Moirang police station on November 5, 2012, however Moirang police had taken up a case under FIR No 112 (11) 2012 Moirang Police Station u/s 376/447/323/406/417/34 IPC after two days on November 8, 2012.

Before the accused was arrested by the police, Additional Sessions Judge (Fast Track Court), Manipur West granted him anticipatory bail on January 31st, 2013.

The victim’s father further approached the High Court of Manipur and also approached the Chief Justice of Supreme Court on July 22 last.

Following the developments, the High Court of Manipur gave its order on July 17 to reconsider the Additional Sessions Judge (FTC)`s order of granting bail to the accused in the case.

The Additional Sessions Judge (FTC) on July 24 last cancelled the anticipatory bail granted to accused Phundreimayum Thoiba.

However, there is no report of police arresting the accused in regard to the case till the filing of this report.
