JAC in Nayimuddin case lays its demands

IMPHAL, July 22: The JAC formed against the death of Md Nayimuddin has said in a press release that it will not claim the death body of Md Nayimuddin until proper actions are taken up by the state.

It further said that effigies of SP of Thoubal and SDPO of Kakching Police were also burnt by protestors today during the 48 hour bandh.

Nayimuddin (18) ,a resident of Sora village died after being shot by the police party led by the SDPO and another 8 were injured on  June 18 last, claimed the statement. They were in a protest decrying the arrest of Sorah villagers regarding the death of the cousin brother of Tengnoupal  MLA, DK Korungthang then.

The JAC had demanded the termination of the SDPO and thus imposed the bandh of 48 hours which commenced from 6 pm yesterday and further that the body of the student will not be taken unless the an agreement has been reached in the issue with the government, this was stated by the secretary of the JAC, Md Ramizuddin.

It may be mentioned that the dead body was announced for disposal unless claimed by today, the body is presently deposited at JNIMS. During the course of the bandh today,the effigies of Ak Jhalajit, SP of Thoubal and SDPO of Kakching, Ghanasyam Sharma were burnt at Sohrah by the agitators.

Due to the bandh the important business centres of Thoubal including Kakching, Yairipok, Lillong, Wangjing were closed down and vehicular movement was thinned down, the statement further claimed and added that roads leading to Sorah , Sangai Yumfam, Yairiopok, Thoubal Moijing and Lillong were blocked by bandh supporters.
