Final electoral rolls, 2014 released

IMPHAL, January 7: The final electoral rolls of 2014 with for all sixty Assembly constituencies in the state were published on Monday afternoon at the office chamber of the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur, O Nabakishore.

At a simple press conference in connection with the release, the state CEO stated that the net total of electors in Manipur has been recorded as 17,39,005 in 2014 which is 8,884 less than the figure of 17,47,889 in 2013. He added that this time all the concerned officers updated the data with diligence and efficiency.  

From today onwards eligible voters from Manipur can check their particulars in the electoral rolls which are available in the offices of the electoral registration officers or by visiting the official website www.ceomanipur.nic.in.

The CEO further mentioned that any individual claim and objection for inclusion/declaration/correction/transposition can also be submitted to the concerned ERO as a part of continued updating of electoral rolls-2014.

As per the directive from Election Commission of India, the correction and objection etc can be done till the last date for filing of nomination for the coming Parliamentary elections, the schedule for which has not been declared as yet.

This year the total number of claim made was 85371 out of which 47332 were female. Out of the claims 24493 from males and 33725 from females, totalling 58218 electors were accepted.

The total numbers of objection were 57157, the male contributing 25390 and female 31767. Altogether 6,467 cases were accepted including 3974 females.

There were 31,810 cases of duplication – 13411 males and 18399 females.

The total numbers of removal or deletion of electors in 2014 is 38277, comprising of 15904 males and 22373 females.

The elector population ratio in the final roll in 2013 was 62 but this year it has decreased to 60. The gender ratio of female against 1000 male was 1029 this year is increase to 1039 gender ratio in final 2013.  

The marginal decline in numbers of electorates is a good sign because it gave the correct indication that the process was carried out without rooms for discrepancies by following proper guidelines and using the best equipment and software, he added.
