Jobs for Tonthoi, Everest summitters

IMPHAL, January 29: The state government has decided to appoint several artiste of the state and other sportspersons including the Mt Everest summitters to be absorbed in government departments.

Announcing the government’s decision, government spokesperson M Okendro Singh said four artistes of the state who have received international and national awards in the field of arts and culture will be provided government jobs, with relaxation of eligibility, according to their educational qualification.

He said that the four state artistes selected by the government for their individual excellence in the world of films are Kiranmala recipient of National Award Best Actress for her role in the film Eshanou; Taorem Leikhendra National Award for Best Child Artiste for his role film Imagee Ningthem; Irom Maipak National Award Best Cameramen for the film Monpas of Arunachal and Leishangthem Tonthoinganbi national Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film Phijigi Mani.

However, since, Kirnamala is already working as a teacher with the Education department, she will be not be considered, he said.

The remaining three artistes will however be appointed by the Education department.

The five mountaineers of the state who had recently summited the Mt Everest will also be provided with government jobs, he announced.

However, since one of them is underage, he will not be eligible for government appointment, he expressed.

The four summitters will be absorbed in the Youth Affairs and Sports department.

On the other hand, MACS Brand Ambassador Khundrakpam Pradipkumar son of Kalachand Singh of Sagolband Khumnam Leirak Imphal West who had bagged the 3rd position in the World Body Building in 2013 and who is living with HIV/AIDS will be appointed as a Physical Education teacher in Youth Affairs and Sports Department, he announced.
