Contract lecturers set Feb 14 deadline for government to meet demand

IMPHAL, February 10: An emergency meeting of the All Manipur Government Higher Secondary Contract Lecturers’ Association (Valley) was held at CC Higher Secondary School today, informed a statement of the association.

The members present in the meeting discussed the present condition of service of the contract lecturers and laboratory attendants and the demand of the association for the regularization of their services, it said.

The Association submitted a memorandum to the state chief minister, and Education minister demanding the absorption and regularization of the contract lecturers and laboratory attendants to their respective posts held.

The memorandum demanded necessary action for the regularization of service the contract lecturers and Laboratory Attendants working in different Government Higher Secondary Schools in the valley districts of Manipur, it said.

The Memorandum further says that if the Government fails to fulfill the demand of these contract lecturers for the regularization of their service on or before February 14, 2014, the contract lecturers and laboratory attendants will not take examination duties for the coming HSLC and Higher Secondary Examination 2014 and various agitations of democratic nature will be followed, it said.
