IMPHAL, March 26: Reacting strongly to the allegation made by CPI of intimidation, Janat Dal-United branded CPI as the most atrocious party ever encountered in its political career.

A press conference was convened in this connection wherein JD-U president M Tombi, countered that the charges levelled by CPI was cent percent wrong and unfounded.

Clarifying that his party is still adhering to its coalition concept, he pointed out that the idea of anti congress and BJP was conceived last year.

Subsequently the matter was discussed at Imphal Hotel wherein he was elected as the convenor by the political party’s members, continued Tombi.

He further pointed out that before the formation of Left and Secular Alliance a meeting was held at Singjamei with 13 political parties along with NCP’s two representatives. However, soon after the meeting the NCP decided to refrain from joining the coalition as per the direction of their party high command, asserted Tombi.

After closing the chapter of NCP in the collision they go ahead with the formation of Left Secular Alliance with 9 political parties and unanimously resolved to support the CPI candidate Dr M Nara on February 19 last.

“We have been sensing uneasy atmosphere since the initial process of forming the alliance when Dr Nara produced a secret letter in the meeting both CPI and NCP indicating to support each other”, maintained Tombi.

Responding to the alleged threat served through mobile phone to C Doungel, Dr Nara and Shanta convenor of the Alliance, the JD-U president stated that external forces are taking advantage of the crisis among third front.

Denying JD (U)’s hand in it, he assured to extend their help in finding the person responsible for serving the threat. A complaint will be lodged along with the number to the SP of Imphal East and to ECI, he further added.

JD (U) is capable of putting up a fight singlehandedly in every election unlike CPI who has always struggle to survive with the support of another party, opined M Tombi.

Meanwhile, he informed that his party will launched its campaign from Churachandpur after the flag hoisting ceremony of its outer candidate Len Gangte.
