IMPHAL, March 7: One day ahead of the Women’s International Day, a newly married woman was found hanging dead at her husband’s residence at Koijing Khunou Maring Village under Kakching Police Station.
The woman is identified as Sapam (n) Ichal Devi, 17, wife of Mopi Maring and daughter of Sapam Tombi of Langthabal Khunou Maning Leikai near Koijam Khunou Maring Village.
According to a source from her parental side, Ichal had got married only about five months back and she was staying at her parental home just last week.
She had returned to her husband’s home just today and her parents were informed that she was found hanging this evening, said the source.
Suspecting foul play in the death, the parents had registered a case with the Kakching police.
It is also learnt that police have been placed round the clock to ward off any untoward incidents between the two villages.
