CM urged to release Md Habibur Rahman

IMPHAL, April 24: The Joint Action Committee against the inhuman treatment and arrest of Habibur Rahman and his family members submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister O Ibobi Thursday afternoon.

The JAC and family members of Habibur Rahman came in large numbers in various vehicles and gather in front of the Manipur State Transport Cooperation Complex gate at around 12 am but a team of Imphal Police Station stop them from marching towards the Chief Minister bungalow and forced the JAC and family members inside the MSRTC Complex.

Six JAC members were allowed to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister. The memorandum which was submitted to the Chief Minister mentioned the 20 April incident at around 2 pm when some unknown miscreants came to the residence of Md Habibur Rahaman at Irong Chasaba Mayai Leikai and threatened his family members by firing live bullets and pelting a stone and demanded the arrest of the persons involved in the incident.

Demanding the quick released of Md Habibur Rahaman and others who were wrongly detained by the police, they asked the concerned authorities of the state to check and prevent the threat and inhuman act against common people.

Md Habibur Rahaman was arrested by Mayang Imphal Police on 20 April in connection with charges of assault against Md Latif, cousin of Wabagai MLA Fazur Rahim.
