CDSU on agitation mode, ask government to revoke notice

LAMKA, May 21: The Churachand District Students’ Union, the apex students’ body of the district today called on the media and expressed their intent for serious opposition to the proposed rationalisation and re-deployment policy of the State government which they term is biased against the district, and demanded immediate revocation of the government notice.

The president of the union, Pumkhenchin said that the union will not allow the government to take out more than 300 teachers from schools from Lamka township area.

He said that the move will be bitterly opposed and all such process will directly affect more than 10000 students of government schools numbering, more than 40 in all.

The president said that in this regard, the union had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, the Education minister concerned, chief secretary and principal secretary; however, there has been no positive response till date.

He said though they had set May 17 as the deadline to meet its demands, the government has remained evasive, forcing the student body to act.

Accordingly, the student body has collected all the files and registers of the schools, he said adding that the same will be set to flame in case the government fail to act to its demand to revoke the order.

The official papers were collected from 11 schools and the maximum from the ZEO office, he said.

Schools will be closed down in case of non-compliance of the union’s demand, he added.

The files collected so far were also exhibited before the media.

Sources have also informed that the government exercise, if carried out will leave many schools with severe lack of teachers- CCpur Govt H/S will be left with only six teachers and Thangkhai H/S with four teacher, Bijang Loubuk Jr H/S will be robbed of 19 teacher out of the present 25 teacher, etc.
