CNPO meetings resolve to demand land record transfer

CHANDEL, June 13: Two public meetings convened since yesterday at different places in Chandel district convened by the CNPO have pledged to demand transfer of land records from Thoubal to Chandel district.

The first sitting at Liwa Changning yesterday was attended by more than 100 tribe leaders, while several people comprising of tribe presidents, chiefs and church leaders attended today’s meet at the MACA Hall, Chandel.

Addressing the media after the meeting, CNPO president said the meeting strongly condemned the alleged Khangshim-Nungourok incidents wherein bandh supporters went on destroying village signboards.

The meetings further pledge to demand additional police outpost to be manned under SP, Chandel at Thamlapokpi, Khangshim and Leingangching villages.

Meanwhile, the CNPO, further informed that the CNPO Development Monitoring Cell will work in close association with the agency or company entrusted with the construction of the Pallel Chandel road to ensure quality maintenance.

In case of the present Chandel DC being posted at another place or transferred, a non-local IAS officer who will not work at the behest of elected representatives should be sent to Chandel, he added.
