IMPHAL, June 24: A land dispute between two tribes at Naojai Maram Village, Senapati district left a person with a bullet injury this morning.
On getting information of the violent dispute, police reinforcement team rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.
According to the police, the incident was reported around 8am when a group of armed persons came down at Naojai Maram Village where another tribe had newly settled and set two houses on fire.
The group had said that the land belong to them and the new tribe cannot settle their, which resulted in a heated argument and subsequently to a gun fight.
A 40 year old identified as Rang of Naojai Maram Village received bullet injuries on his hip and had to be rushed to Imphal for treatment, said the police.
Meanwhile, although the situation has been brought under control, it continues to remain tense.
