Applications called for LIME scholarship

IMPHAL, August 6: The Students’ League Manipur has stated that Manipur University will offer Lamyanba Irabot Memorial Educational Scholarship (LIME-scholarship) for Master of Arts (MA) starting from this year onward. 

According to a release of the organisation, the scholarship will be offered to those students who are poor and cannot afford to pay for their fees. 

The scholarship programme can only be taken by students from family who are Below Poverty Line (BPL). 

It said Meitei students must come from villages and their parents must be farmers or workers in the fields. Scheduled caste students must be form Andro village or Leimaram village with poor family back-ground. Scheduled tribes students must be of Aimol, Tarao, Purum, Kom, Chothe, Chiru, Kharam, Khoibu and Koireng tribes. 

The scholarship will be awarded to 20 students and 10 students belonging to Meitei community who are living outside Manipur such as Assam or Tripura. Students from Assam and Tripura may submit their applications for the scholarship. The application forms can be availed from Marxism Learning Centre, RIMS Road from August 10 onwards, it said. 

According to another release of the organisation, a Patriotic Poetry competition and Symposium will be organised in collaboration with other organisations by the Students’ League Manipur on August 13, Patriotic Day. The competition will be held at four districts of Manipur, namely Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur and Thoubal, it said.
