ATSUM Emboi Serto faction too suspends blockade

KANGPOKPI, August 23: The Emboi Serto led faction of the All Tribal Students’ Union, Manipur ATSUM has today decided to suspend its indefinite economic blockade for ten days with immediate effect.

The decision was taken considering the assurance from the State government and the problems faced by the people due to the bandh in Assam’s Golaghat area.

While showing appreciation to the state government for seriously considering the issue of the tribal with regards to Central Educational Institution (Reservation in Admission) Amendment Act 2012, president of the student body Emboi Serto asserted that the economic blockade enforced in all national highways in the state has been suspended for 10 days since the state Government somehow acknowledged the tribal sentiment.

But, we will be compelled to continue the agitation if no positive sign is forthcoming from the State government with more vigor, warned Emboi.

ATSUM also decided to suspend its agitation in view of the tremendous problems face by the people due to the bandh in Assam’s Golaghat area and the monsoon said chief of the student of body before adding that ATSUM will not compromise nor negotiate if our rights are being neglected.

He further continued that the assurance of the MU authority that the order of the Academic Council will be revoke at the earliest is welcome and ATSUM will eagerly await for the implementation of the amendment act of 2012.

Elevating the needs to rectify the same by the authority concern Emboi Serto questioned whether the Registrar who is responsible for not implementing the Amendment Act will be punished or not?

While promoting the importance of tribal unity and glancing for ways and means to unite for the tribal common interest ATSUM also appealed other student bodies not to be confused nor be misled by elements which do not understand the tribal issues, said Emboi stating that many had issued press statement which are totally against the interest of the tribal people.
