IMPHAL, August 11: Breaking silence over the allegation on the death of his wife, Monica Devi, Akoijam Jiban Singh, said that he is ready to accept any penalty deem fit by the public if he is proven wrong.

Speaking to media persons during a press conference held today at the Manipur Press Club, he disclosed that his nuptial knot with Monica was hard earned.

Their marriage was settled only after having eloped twice, he said.

While narrating the episode of the intervening night of August 7 and 8, the night his wife was hospitalised at RIMS, he claimed that following a complaint (chest pain) she was admitted to RIMS adding that he informed his in-laws (mother and brother in law) who came to meet Monica.

Jiban further claimed that during a conversation with the concerned doctors his mother in-law claimed to have told the doctors that Monica was involved in an accident.

Later that night she was declared death by the doctors following which he claimed to have approached his mother in law whether to conduct post mortem.

After having consulted with his in laws, Monica’s body was brought back home, said Jiban.

However, all of sudden his brother in law came crashing the funeral questioning why post mortem was not conducted.

Despite being agreeing to conduct post mortem, his in laws side dismantled his house besides setting on fire the house of his sister, he alleged.

He strongly disapproved the allegation levelled against him of ill treating Monica adding that he claimed it baseless and ready to accept any judgement of the people or law if he was guilty.
