Programme on malaria prevention held

IMPHAL, August 14: The Directorate of Information and Public Relations has stated that the District Vector Borne Diseases Control Society, Tamenglong observed the Anti-Malaria Month, 2014 and a meeting on prevention of malaria at Tamenglong Auditorium on August 14.

According to a release of the DIPR, Chief Medical Officer, Doctor Chambo Gonmei gave speech on the topic ‘Control and Containment of Malaria and other Vector borne diseases’. He stated that every department has a big role in the prevention of malaria and other disease causing germs, and this is especially so for Education Department, Works Department and PHE Department.

He further said that if knowledge on spreading of these diseases and protection against them were taught to students by the Education Department, it will provide a big help in the prevention of diseases.

The public must also try to gain knowledge on prevention of Malaria through Sanitation programmes taken up by the PHE Departments. He further said that prevention of these diseases can be more effective if the Works Department had taken up development of roads and bridges for the benefit of the transportation of the sick and the doctors in a befitting way.

The District AIDS Control Society, Tamenlong, Doctor Z Kamei gave advice to the medical staffs working at remote areas to treat their patients as part of their family members, it said.
