LAMKA, January 19: The Congress`™ State leadership including Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and party president Gaikhangam accompanied AICC general secretary NE incharge V Narayanasamy today to attend the district level interaction programme on `Congress ideology, organisation reforms and way forward for the party`™ at the conference hall of the Autonomous District Council Churachandpur.

Attacking the BJP, the general secretary NE in charge maintained that the Congress`™ philosophy is secularism which is the exact opposite of BJP.

He said the 2014 election result should be an eye opener for the party workers and members.

Ministers should not act like bureaucrats and in case they act like one, they are not fit for their post, he said.

Meanwhile, Narayanasamy`™s statement that he was there to get feedbacks from party workers and the general public was followed by a host of concerns raised by the workers and members of the party.

Many raised their misunderstandings and doubts including ADC, Churachandpur EM Genneikhup Vaiphei who asked why it was difficult for the party workers to meet their party top brass in Delhi to raise their concerns and talk on their grievances whereas it is quite different in the BJP.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said that since the country`™s Constitution provides for a federal structure, the State cannot be deprive of its fund share no matter who is in power at the Centre.

He said though there are quite a few development plans of the government, with the State Assembly election just about two years away, all the plans cannot be accomplished at the moment.

However, the plans will be taken up on a priority basis, he added.

Continuing with the assurances, he said his government is trying to provide portable water and electricity to all the remote areas including those in Churachandpur in the very near future.

On the issue of `sixth schedule demand`™ which has been a hot topic in the hills of the State for quite sometime he asked the people to first study its results and desirability in the neighbouring States of Meghalaya, Mizoram, etc where it is in practice, before adding that, `Just the name will not serve the purpose.`™

Citing that the hills and the valley are treated equally, he further offered to empower the existing Autonomous District Council in the State and asked whether it would not serve the people of the hills better.

He said there is need to discuss and find an amicable solution together

Health minister Phungzathang Tonsing delivering the vote of thanks appealed to the people of the State in fighting the dog-bite issue.

Phungzathang has appealed to the students, philanthropic and other organisations to help the law enforcing agencies in fighting the issue.

Meanwhile, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaikhangam attacking the BJP government alleged the Centre government led by the BJP of miserably failing on the `bringing back the black money`™ issue.

`We made mistakes and we must set correction,`™ he also lambasted the BJP plant to do.
