Human Rights Initiative Manipur submits names of missing persons

IMPHAL, Jan 19: The Human Rights Initiative has said that it has submitted to the CBI a list of persons (22 persons) who have been reported victims of enforced disappearance/missing suspected in the hands of security forces since 1980 for further investigation under UD Case No. 9/City-PS/2014 U/s 174 Cr PC regarding discovery of human skulls and bones from excavation of Tombisana High School Complex, Imphal on December 25 for identification of persons as whether the skulls and bones are that of disappeared persons.

According to a release of the HRI, it requested the director, CBI and his team to investigate the matter sincerely for the sake of peace and justice by testing the blood/DNA of the skulls and bones and that of the victim families or other appropriate evidences for identification of those persons.

It has also appealed to all the citizens and civil societies of the State to organise peaceful and democratic movement to pressurise the Government of Manipur to pursue the matter with the secretary, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India for necessary notification so that the CBI can take up the case at the earliest.

It also stated that HRI will cooperate and give support to Committee on Mass Grave against Tombisana High School) for further people democratic movement. It also appealed to all the people of Manipur to report/SMS to the Families of the Involuntarily Disappeared`™s Association, Manipur (FIDAM) (#9856259164) or mail to pao@hrimanipur.org for any involuntarily disappeared or still missing if any, it said.
