IMPHAL, Feb 27: One woman was shot and seriously injured by a gunmen yesterday night at Mukti Village under the Nungba police station in Tamenglong district, according to police sources.
The 44 year old woman, Guichingliu, wife of late Lungeipou, was hit in the chest, police sources told IFP. She was evacuated to the RIMS hospital in a critical condition this morning.
Police said the assailant is believed to be one Gaijangam, son of Boby of Ramkung Village under the Noneh police station.
In the wake of the incident, villagers of Mukti, overpowered the assailant and severely beat him up. The condition of the man could not be confirmed immediately.
