Thangsho Baite deplores misuse of knowledge

KANGPOKPI, February 2: Education is not always good until and unless it is implemented positively and utilised in a meaningful way, opined Thangso Baite, Member of Parliament (Outer Manipur).

The MP was speaking at the Silver Jubilee celebration function of Helthang Memorial Higher Secondary School, commonly and popularly known as HM. Hr. Sec. School, Keithelmanbi, Sadar Hills today at Janglallen Hall, Keithelmanbi.

He also unveiled the Silver Jubilee monument stone at the School campus.

He said no matter how much a person is learned, it is all useless, if he is misusing his knowledge, he said citing an example that today there are many educated youth in the State who have become addicted to difference kinds of drugs.

`Let us pay most attention to younger generation so as to make our future bright`, asserted the MP.

Baite continued to stress that many youth particularly from hill districts are going to big cities with great expectation from their parents but unfortunately in many cases they have returned back without making any achievements.

Speaking on development, the MP said that nowadays everybody is waiting for development from the government.

He further pointed out that the government alone cannot promote proper development.

The government of India has introduced a numbers of developmental programs like MGNREGS, Mid Day Meal, he said before adding that the Food Security Act is in the pipeline.

The MP lamented that it is time to have self introspection in connection with the government`™s developmental programs while adding that those village where such development programs are implemented effectively got the grassroots benefit of the program.

Any scheme or any development program whatever may be the form should be utilized according to the objectives of the scheme and program so as to ensure maximum benefit asserted Thangso Baite.

To commemorate the Silver Jubilee student of the school from 1990 to 2015 in batch wise beat the traditional Gong 25 times which was followed by a condolence service for the departed members of the school.

After the MP unveiled the monument stone erected to commemorate the Silver Jubilee Rev. Seikholet Singson, who erected the foundation stone of the school on November 10, 1989 dedicated Silver Jubilee monument stone while the MP also released the Silver Jubilee Souvenir on the occasion.

The celebration was alsp attended by Lunthang Haokip, EM (Vety.&Medical), ADC Sadar Hills, Thangkam Misao, Member ADC Sadar Hills, Hatlhing, MDC, DK. Thangboi, Addl.DC Kangpokpi and Kaigoulal Kipgen, SDC(HQ), ADC Kangpokpi, who was also among the founder student of the school.
