IMPHAL, April 12: To commemorate the Cheiraoba festival, a felicitation function was organized by Veteran Football Association, Yairipok today at TYPO ground in honour of several meritorious students and sports players hailing from Top-Chingtha and Laimanai under Yairipok Top-Chingtha Gram Panchayat, Andro Constituency.
Besides Dr L Chandramani Singh, ex-Deputy Chief Minister and chief advisor of MPP who graced the occasion as chief guest, the function was also attended by Md Kamaruddin, president of Development Organization Andro Kendra (DOAK) as president; Dr L Lilabati Devi, retired Professor of RIMS; Rev Father Paul Lelen Haokip, principal of Sacred Heart English School and several other elderly persons coming from different villages as guests of honour.
Those meritorious students and sports players who were feted included MFS K Biju Singh (MPSC 2012 batch) of Yairipok Laimanai; Dr Jotin Amom (MPSC 2014 batch) of Yairipok Laimanai; M Romesh Singh (M Tech) of Yairipok Top-Chingtha); Yumnam Sanathoi Devi (Wushu gold medallist , National Games 2015) and Laitonjam Noren Meetei (Mr Imphal East ,2013).
As part of the programme, an exhibition football match was played between Angtha Veteran Football Association and Yambem Veteran Football Association.
The match which was participated by MLA of Andro Constituency, Th Shyamkumar and several renowned personalities of the constituency ended in 1-1 draw.
