More prosecution witnesses depose in Meghen`s case

IMPHAL, Apr 29: Statements of two more prosecution witnesses in the case of United National Liberation Front (UNLF) Chairman`™s arrest were recorded before the Special Court of National Investigative Agency (NIA), Guwahati today.

The deposition of the prosecution witnesses of the case had started from April 27 following an order passed by court.

The two prosecution witnesses whose statements were recorded during the proceedings of the case held today have been identified as PW No 72 Kishan Lal and PW No 73 SP Mohanty.

During his deposition before the court, Kishan Lal testified to have heard statements given by Meghen and several other leaders of the outfit to NIA. He also claimed that he had given signature as a witness of the interrogation statements.

The other prosecution witness, SP Mohanty in his deposition gave statement claiming he was present while passwords of the computers recovered from all the accused were revealed. He also testified to have been present while switching on the computers.

It is said that SP Mohanty who had passed M Tech works as an Information Officer in the office of Inspector General of Police (IGP), NIA.

Along with taking deposition of the two prosecution witnesses, the outfit`™s Chairman RK Meghen and several other leaders currently under the judicial custody of NIA, were also produced before the Special Court.
