Post mortem examination of recovered human skulls completed

IMPHAL, April 29: The post mortem examination and inquest work conducted by Department of Forensic Science Medicine of RIMS on the human skulls and skeletons which were found during digging at the old compound of Tombisana High School, Old Assembly Road by PWD for construction of a market shed for women, has been completed today.

According to reports, the post mortem examination had begun from April 21 last following an order issued by District Magistrate, Imphal West.

Three Executive Magistrates of Imphal West namely Md Daulat Khan, Robertson and Jadumani assisted during the in-depth examination on rotational basis.

As the post mortem examination and inquest work had been completed, Investigation Officer of the much-talked recovery case will be sending samples of the human remains to a laboratory outside the state for performing DNA test.

Forensic experts will minutely examine results of the DNA tests of the human remains and family members of those who had gone missing ever since they were picked up by security forces, to ascertain whether they match each other or not, the reports stated.

It may be recalled here that eight human skulls and skeletons of different sizes were found during digging at the erstwhile compound of Tombisana High School by PWD on December 25 and 26 of last year.

The post mortem examination and inquest work on the human remains were entrusted to Department of Forensic Science Medicine, RIMS following outcry of the public over the scary recovery.
