UCM president exhorts youths to remain aloof from drug abuse

IMPHAL, April 3: Saying that the state has been filled with ranges of unresolved issues including Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA), 1958 and political conflict which have adversely affected peace and tranquillity in the society, president of United Committee Manipur (UCM) Nabachandra Yumnam exhorted the youths to distant itself from drug abuse instead contribute towards bringing collective growth in the state.

He was inaugurating a branch office of Public Development Committee, Bishnupur Constituency at Ningthoukhong Bazar today.

Speaking as chief guest, Nabachandra asserted that every individual should contribute his part towards building an egalitarian society free from drugs and violence and actively take part in all the outstanding issues so as to resolve it soon.

UCM is working in hands with individuals and civil society organizations to maintain peace and harmony in the state. The committee has the desire to work together with Public Development Committee too, he said.

Nabachandra called upon the people to unite together in safeguarding the territorial integrity of the state from potential threats.

The inauguration function was also attended by Th Ibomcha Singh, president of Public Development Committee and social worker I Ibomcha as president and guest of honour respectively.
