Boys who tried to clean 50-feet-deep well drown inside

IMPHAL, July 4: In a shocking and unfortunate incident, two boys including one from Nepal drowned inside a well while trying to clean it this morning around 6:30 at Hathi Kuha in Kanglatongbi under Sekmai Police Station.

The two boys are identified as Dilip Limbu, 19, son of lakshmi Prasad Limbu of Shiva Shatashi-III Village of Dhapa district, Nepal and Samir Rai, 18, son of Krishna Bahadur Rai of Hathi Kuha Village.

Dilip Limbu had arrived in the State from Nepal only a few days back.

The well, they were trying to clean, is about 50 feet deep.

Locals said the two were found dead, when bystanders looked in after they failed to come up even after a long time.

Without any delay, family members informed the police and the fire service following which personnel of the fire service went down wearing oxygen mask and retrieved their bodies, the locals informed.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case in this regard.

The bodies were handed over to family members after post mortem was conducted at the RIMS morgue.
