IMPHALL, August 13: The District Information Officer, Thoubal has said that Patriot Day was observed at Thoubal DC Office on August 13.
According to a release of the DIO, the function was attended by Thoubal DC, T. Ranjit Singh as chief guest, SP K. Radhashyam Singh as guest of honour and Additional DC Ksh. Lemba Singh as president and also spoke on the occasion.
The distinguished guests wished for development in the society during the observation of the day, informed the statement.
They had also said that development and harmony should be brought in the State by the various communities together, it said.
During the proceedings of the observation Waikhom Bapushwar Meitei read religious quotes from Meitei scriptures, Moulana Abdul Helim from the Quran, A Somorendro from the Gita and N Kipgen from the Bible, it said.
Floral tributes were paid to the photos of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General led by the chief guest. The programme was also attended by members of Panchayat Raj Institute, head of Civil Securities and officials, it said.
