IMPHAL, January 28: Chungkham Taratombi Devi, mother of Chungkham Sanjit who was killed on July 23, 2009 fake encounter case, has filed a petition to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) requesting a fresh investigation into the recent disclosure made by Thounaujam Herojit Singh, one of the accused involved in the killing of her son.

At the same time, the petition also requested the CBI to submit supplementary charge sheet against the police officers and politicians, who ordered the killing of Chungkham Sanjit.

Taratombi further stated that based on the disclosure made by Herojit, through IFP and other national media, “It is transpired that he (Herojit) killed my son Chungkham Sanjit Meitei as ordered to do so by the then additional SP, Imphal West District. At the same it was claimed that the then DGP and the Chief Minister were in the know”.

Under the circumstances, Taratombi was of the view that a fresh investigation into the new disclosure is highly required in order to put an end of the impunity by superior officer and politicians who give illegal order for murder.

“Individual criminal responsibility and culpability should be assigned to not only the hands that pull the trigger but also to those who gave the order for the killings. The doctrine of command or superior responsibility must be invoked in the present case. Encounter will not end unless the politicians and top cops who order these extra judicial killings are held accountable”, stated Taratombi in the petition.

Meanwhile, the JAC formed against the killing will held a public meeting tomorrow at Khurai to discuss its course of action.
