IMPHAL, Feb 5: For extensive dissemination of the Loktak wetland conservation campaign to the public in the form of fact finding visit and assessing the present situation inside the lake with special reference to Nambul basin like Yanhgoi Marin, the All Loktak Lake Areas Fishermen’s Union Manipur (ALLAFUM) on behalf of the organising committee of the World Wetlands Day, expressed gratitude to the president of AMWJU and media fraternity.

In a press release, secretary ALLAFUM showed appreciation to those news dailies that put up the international issue in their respective news headlines, front page, etc.

It further wished that media fraternity will continue to cover more news items in the days to come on public interest.

The World Wetlands Day on the theme ‘Loktak Wetlands for Future Generation’ was observed on February 2.

The press release further stressed that role of media in Loktak wetlands public awareness campaign is the need of the hour for future generation. Media is a vital tool to bridge the gap between the ground reality and the common people, it added.

It also reminded that media is the fourth pillar of the nation, so one needs to respect and co-operate media for reliable information for the welfare of the general public and media fraternity will also uphold the media ethics for the end of justice, it added.
