CST bans selling of illicit drugs and liquors

IMPHAL, March 20: The emergency executive meeting of Committee for Social Transformation (CST) was held on March 19 at the residence of its convener Hamna Rongmei.

The committee discuss on the latest development about the selling and consumption of liquor and drugs in some places in and around Langol area.

In statement, CST Secretary Sashang Keishing said that the committee has already declared Langol area as dry zone on March 12. They have been conducting poster campaign, publicity using loud speaker, holding mass protest rally and public meeting etc against the sell and consumption of liquor and drugs and other anti social business in the area.

The committee has other civil organisations in the Langol area has adopted resolutions like fine impose of Rs 20,000 to violator and Rs 5,000 to the informer for which name will be kept secret.

They also resolved that Rs 1000 fine will imposed if any individual found getting drunk and get involved in fighting, creating nuisance in public place, using abusing words and provoking others, commenting communal remark etc.

The committee has threatened to conducted mega drive in a very short time and if anyone found continuing the business of liquor and drugs and other anti social activities the committee will straight away follow the resolution passed on the mass protest rally cum public metting held on March 12 at Pabung Sudhir Mandhop, Laimanai, Langol.
