Gaikhangam encourages students to look for knowledge enrichment

IMPHAL, March 12: The Naga Meet 2016 was observed today at Manipur University Centenary Hall on the theme “Learning Promotes Strength” organized by the Naga Students ‘ Welfare Committee.

Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said that today, education is the most important aspect of our lives.

The things that are taught in schools and colleges are not education but means of education, he said, encouraging the students to take the right path in education, so that they will reach their destination.

He stressed on the inclusiveness of all communities to bring development and prosperity in Manipur.

He further encouraged the students to look for knowledge enrichment rather than for material enrichment.

Guest of honour deputy Speaker MK Preshaw Shimray said that we cannot ask the neighbouring States for development, including construction of educational institutions.

Only the State government can bring such development in the State, and as such it is much better to go along with the leaders of the State, he added.

Prof N Lokendro speaking as the functional president said the diversity in Manipur University is a reflection of Manipur.

Other highlights of the function include traditional dance forms of the different Naga tribes.

Faculties of different departments and Research Scholars also attended the function.
