Bomb lobbed, suspects held

IMPHAL, Apr 4: Unidentified miscreants allegedly lobbed a grenade at the Bhramapur Aribam Leikai residence of IMC chairperson Aribam Nimai Sharma around 9.10 pm.

However, locals rounded up two persons suspected to be involved in the attack and badly thrashed them. The two are identified as RK Nepolean, 36, son of RK Tiken of Sagolband Tera Amudon Akham Leikai and Angom Punil Kumar, 39, son of Joykumar of Porompat Thawanthaba Leikai. Another women accomplice managed to flee from the scene.

The locals also recovered a gun licence and a Id card from one of the two.

A black-colour Bolero jeep bearing regd no MN 01X 7655 in which the two came was also smashed by the irate mob, the reports said.

Meanwhile, a Porompat Police team led by OC Ak Shantikumar arrived and took the two away along with the vehicle.
