IMPHAL, April 20: Claiming that certain anti-social elements had damaged the PWD Road connecting Heirok to Moreh via Machi using JCB at three different stretches at Litan Heirok Chingkhong by some miscreants on April 10, the Maring Uparap Assembly (MUA) has strongly condemned the incident.
The MUA accompanied by a media team visited the areas today.
Talking to media persons, MUA president L Modun Charang sought that the cutting off of the road using JCB is a coward act and further appealed to all concerned not to repeat such acts in the future.
Modun said that as the road was cut-off vehicles could not pass, the surrounding villagers have been facing lots of inconveniences. He further urged the State government to immediately intervene considering the plight of the people.
The president claimed that “this road is the lifeline of Maring people living in Machi block”.
He said the Asian Development Bank has taken initiative to transform the road into a national highway passing through Machi to Moreh. The bank has already completed the road survey, Modun said.
MUA sought the concerned organisation or individuals to clarify for the act and appealed to the concern authority to immediately book the culprits and punish them according to the law of land.
