Winger drivers assn. threatens cease-work strike

IMPHAL, April 16: The All Manipur Inter State Winger & Cruiser Welfare Driver Union today resolved to launch a cease-work strike from today midnight if Md Nasir, 25 son of Md Iboyai of Thoubal

Moijing who is presently under custody of Lalmati Police Staton is not released without any condition at the earliest.

This was said today by the union’s president Ch Sangkerjit during a press meet held at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal.

He said that on April 12, winger driver Md Nasir left Imphal for Dimapur as usual.

He continued that while crossing Lalmati Police Station in Dimapur, he was stopped and taken into custody while another police personnel drove off the passengers in his vehicle.

He said that as soon as the union was informed, their representatives enquired about the incident from the police station but its officers failed to provide any information regarding the driver.

Lamenting the incident, he announced to commenced a cease-work and stop its service from midnight tonight if Nasir is not released without any condition.

He also said that a memorandum has been submitted today to the State Chief Minister O Ibobi in the regard.

He further mentioned that other transport associations and unions have also assured to support their agitation from Monday onwards if Nasir is not released by then.
