Any form of agitation today : JCILPS

IMPHAL, May 29: Strongly condemning the alleged police excesses meted out to pro-ILPS agitators, JCILPS has said that there will be no let up in the people’s movement for implementation of ILPS in the State.

Speaking to reporters at Sega Road Konjeng Hazari Leikai office tonight, JCILPS Student Wing convenor Oinam Nandababu said that firing tear gas shells, mock bombs and using water cannons against the agitating girl students was barbaric. He said that JCILPS Student Wing strongly condemns the police action meted out to the girl protesters whose healths were already feeble due to hunger strike.

Saying that JCILPS Student Wing would never remain silent, he said that they would give a befitting a reply to the Government and police. Nandababu urged the public to stage any form of agitation of their wish tomorrow (May 30). He said that police arrested two students during a protest at the gate of BJP Manipur Pradesh office on May 24. 25 girl students have been staging a hunger strike at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai from May 25 demanding unconditional release of the two arrested students, Nandababu said.

On the other hand, JCILPS Women Wing convenor Thongam (O) Apabi also strongly condemned police action. Terming the incident as inhuman, Apabi said that JCILPS Women Wing does not take the matter lightly. She said that people coming from different localities and directions would storm the residences of Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs and offices of political parties tomorrow (May 30).

Urging the public to take out torch rallies on May 31, she said that sit-in-protests would be staged across the State on June 1. People would form human chains to raise slogans at 2 pm the same day, she said. JCILPS would announce future course of intense agitations on June 2, she added. Essential services staff, media and religious activities would be exempted from the purview of the agitations.
