IMPHAL, May 30: JCILPS has announced a public curfew in Central and State Government offices from June 1 to 3. Speaking to mediapersons at their Sega Road, Konjeng Hazari Leikai office this evening, JCILPS convenor Khomdram Ratan said that they would continue with different forms of agitation. He appealed to all State Government and Central Government employees not to attend their offices from June 1 to 3. There will be public curfew from 4 am to 6 pm of June 2 at Khwairamband including Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar. The public curfew would not cover water supply, power, medical services, religious activities and media.

All non-local people should stay confined within their places of residences located within greater Imphal areas on June 1 and June 2. Torch rallies would be taken out extensively tomorrow starting from 7 pm. This would be followed by sit-in-protest at different places on June 1, Ratan informed while appealing to all the people to shout different slogans in unison at the end of the torch rallies. He also appealed to all the people not to deviate from the line of agitation announced by JCILPS otherwise the whole movement can be misinterpreted.
He also condemned in the strongest term the acts of inflicting injuries on students by police using water cannon, mock bombs and tear gas shells. Pointing out that the ongoing movement is for protection of all indigenous people, Ratan said that the Government, police and political parties would not serve any purpose when all the indigenous peoples are wiped out.

He further appealed to all police personnel not to view and treat agitating students as their enemies. Unleashing brute force cannot suppress the movement. On the contrary, the movement would gain greater momentum corresponding to the degree of brute force unleashed by the Government, he added.
