IMPHAL, May 10: The Kuki Inpi Manipur has strongly objected to the all political parties’ decision to urge the Centre to give assent to the three bills and cautioned Kuki MLAs not to represent any political party as delegates to New Delhi in favour of ILPS.

A press statement issued today by KIM stated that the protection of Manipur People’s Bill 2015, The Land Revenue and Land Reform (7th Amendment) Bills 2015 and The Manipur Shops and Establishment (2nd Amendment) Bill 2015 were drafted as per the wishes and whims of the JCILPS and there was no representation from the Kuki Assembly members.

“The JCILPS had never consulted the Kukis and its mandated CSOs before launching the movement, even the state cabinet did not have the courtesy of consulting the Hill Area Committee.

The Manipur Legislative Assembly deliberately by-passed the rules and procedures of the business of Manipur Legislative Assembly which totally undermined the sanctity and the special provisions of Article 371-C guaranteed to protect the Hill people,” the note stated.

Maintaining that the Kuki political interest find no expression in any political party in Manipur and the resolution of all political parties does not reflect the interest of the Kukis and the tribal communities, the body cautioned Kuki MLAs not to represent any political parties in favour of ILPS as delegates to the centre.
