IMPHAL, May 6: Tension ran high at New Chekon Traffic Island under Porompat Police Station, Imphal East after a personal of Village Defence Force (VDF) who was on duty at the area allegedly molested a woman.
The incident took place today around 7.30 pm.
According to reports, the woman with one of her friends was returning after buying medicines from a pharmacy when she started beating the VDF personal for allegedly molesting her.
Sensing the incident, nearby locals rushed to the spot but the VDF personal hurriedly fled the place.
Later, the woman was brought to New Checkon Youth Club where she interrogated about the incident. General secretary of the club N Sushil Singh has submitted a written complaint to Officer-in-Charge of Porompat PS in connection with the incident, the reports stated.
