IMPHAL, Jun 3 : Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) has cancelled the MCSCC examination (Prelim), 2016 held on May 15 last.
A fresh examination would be conducted on June 3, said a statement issued by MPSC Additional Secretary N Nimaichand.
All the candidates who had been admitted for MCSCC examination (Prelim), 2016 earlier may download e-admission certificates from www.empsconline.gov.in from June 15, the statement added.
Meanwhile, JAC Against Misconduct of MCSCC (Prelim) Examination, 2016 has lauded MPSC for declaring its decision to conduct the examination afresh.
The JAC also thanked Opposition leader Dr I Ibohalbi, MLAs Kh Joykishan and Th Bishwajit, All Tribal Students Union Manipur, NGOs and other student bodies for pressing the Government and MPSC to re-conduct the examination.
It may be mentioned that the JAC has been demanding MPSC to conduct a fresh examination stating that there were many wrong questions and ambiguity in the instruction of the examination held on May 15 last.
The JAC had said that instruction number 9 printed on the front page of the question booklet stated that “There will be no penalty for wrong answers.”
However, below this instruction on the same page, it was again printed that “There will penalty for wrong answers…”.
Some invigilators told the candidates that there would be penalty for wrong answers while some other invigilators informed the candidates that there would not be penalty for wrong answers.
In many centres, invigilators even refused to tell whether there would be penalty or not. As such, a large chunk of candidates did not attempt all the questions fearing penalty while many candidates attempted full marks as the invigilators told them that there would be no penalty, the JAC had claimed.
Some candidates had also claimed that there were many wrong questions and errors in the answer key.
Over 10,000 candidates appeared in 28 centres in the examination held on May 15.
