IMPHAL, Jul 11: After their story was published on The Sangai Express, a patient from Khoijuman Mayai Leikai has been brought to JNIMS by the volunteers of ACOAM-Lup, Kangleipak to give her free treatment today. A news report regarding taking care of her ailing parents by a young girl was published on this daily a few days back.

After getting this information, ACOAM Lup volunteers brought the girl’s mother – Soibam Memcha (57) w/o Soibam Chaoba (64) to the hospital and admitted her at Surgery Ward. JNIMS Director Laishram Deven said that Memcha’s ultra sound report indicates that her right kidney has been slightly infected due to prolonged accumulation of kidney stones. He said that she would be operated upon after her infection is controlled. Around 11 years back, she was operated upon to take out stones from her left kidney, he said. Saying that Memcha has multiple complaints, the Director said that her ailments would be treated one after another at the hospital free of cost. He said that Dr Somorjit and Dr Jitendra have been consulted to begin treatment from today.

He further said that a doctor team would go to Khoijuman to examine the condition of Memcha’s husband Soibam Chaoba as well. Saying that giving free treatment to needy people is JNIMS objective, Dr Deven said that effort has been put in to continue it as a policy of the medical institute. ACOAM Lup president Ksh Somorendro said that Memcha had been brought to the hospital as part of its public health endeavour announced recently. He also lauded JNIMS and its Director for taking up such noble activities. Somorendro said that the organisation would begin inspecting various PHCs.
