Victims include two Saudi Nationals 3 Sajiwa jail inmates killed in clash

E-front-__-three-death-in-Sajiwa-Jail-copy-735x391IMPHAL, Jul 30: Three inmates including two Saudi Arabian Nationals were killed in a reported clash at Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa in the wee hours of today.
The deceased have been identified as Yusuf (21) s/o Siddiq from Medinatul Manou Warh, Saudi Arabia and Abdus Salam (22) s/o Adul Ahad from Saudi Arabia. Both of them completed their jail terms in 2014 and their deportation process was underway while the other deceased was one Thangminlian Zou alias Bobon (29) s/o (L) Kapkhanpao of Muallum village, Churachandpur. Thangminlian was an under trial prisoner.
Briefing media persons, Additional DGP (Prison) P Doungel said the incident occurred around 1 am today when Yusuf and Abdus who were said to be Saudi Arabian Nationals attacked Thangminlian who was sharing cell-1 of Sector-1 with them and they killed him inside the cell.
On hearing the tussle, other inmates of the sector rushed in and attacked the duo who reportedly killed Thangminlian. On learning about the clash, security personnel rushed to the particular sector but both Yusuf and Abdus were found dead along with Thangminlian, said Doungel.
Three jail officials Yumnam Brojen, Tuang Sonmuan Naulak and Thoudam Jiten including an under trial prisoner namely Lanlunglelong sustained minor injuries.
Additional reinforcements were rushed in to thwart further violence, he added.
Doungel further said that the State authority has been making efforts to contact the Saudi embassy for deportation of the deceased foreign convicts. However, there has been no response from the Saudi authorities so far.
He added that if there is no response the bodies will be disposed as per rule.
The bodies were sent for autopsy to JNIMS mortuary.
