AFSPA will remain in Manipur : Rijiju

NEW DELHI, Aug 3 :Replying to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha Tuesday posed by CN Jayadevan, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju blamed the Manipur Government for continuation of AFSPA in the State. He said that AFSPA is reviewed periodically and objective assessment of ground situation is made in consultation with security agencies and concerned State Governments. He also clarified that Manipur is declared as disturbed area under AFSPA by the State Government of Manipur.
Meanwhile the Government of India remained tight lipped on the content of Framework Agreement with NSCN-IM even after one year. The Government of India and NSCN-IM signed a Framework Agreement on August 3, 2015. Even after one year of signing the agreement the Government has nothing much to reveal on the same.
Replying to an unstarred question posed by Thokchom Meinya and Mining Ering regarding the Naga pact in Lok Sabha, Rijiju said the Framework Agreement lays down broad principle within which final agreement will be worked out and added that consultation with all stakeholders including State Governments of Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur will be held before reaching a final agreement.
