Ukl to roll out red carpet for CM

UKHRUL, Apr 1 : The Tangkhul community under the aegis of Tangkhul Naga Long would host a red carpet reception programme to welcome the newly elected Chief Minister N Biren Singh and his Cabinet Ministers at TNL ground Wino Bazar, Ukhrul on April 11.

CM N Biren would be visiting Ukhrul for a tour programme, according to a report.
Speaking to our correspondent, TNL president Weapon Zimik said, “It is a very good gesture on the part of the new State Government which is starting to pay more attention to the tribals by knowing the ground reality.”

In order to host the programme in a grand manner and expedite necessary arrangement and preparations, he called an immediate meeting of all the leaders of the Tangkhul social organisations including Women league TSL, Headmen Association TNWL, Youth Council TMNL, Tangkhul Four Zones Chairmen. To make the event successful, they agreed during the meeting to form a special organizing committee inviting social activists, CSOs headed by the TNL president himself.

According to him, various key issues on development of the district would be highlighted, which has been long neglected by the previous State Government and added that other important issues would also be addressed which need the Government’s attention at the earliest.

CM N Biren Singh’s visit to Ukhrul district might be the first official tour programme to the hill districts of Manipur after he assumed the office as the Chief Minister of the State.
According to a reliable source, the CM’s visit was scheduled on April 6 before but it was deferred to April 11.
