He was addressing at the meeting held at his office chamber at Secretariat New Block. The meeting discussed on project for plantation of improved variety of turmeric.
Plantation of turmeric plant was taken up after successful plantation of stevia and lemon grass. Market linkage for turmeric plantation has already been established. 4000 acres of land for plantation of turmeric plant has been identified in Imphal East and Thoubal districts.
Talking about PMEGP, he said that there is a need to spread awareness about the scheme and for that, the Department will form screening committee.
The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary and Director of Commerce and Industries, Managing Director, Legal Advisor, Technical Consultant and officials of Manipur Food Industries Corporation Limited.
