Mother-daughter murder case Nab killer(s) by June 2 : PAC to Govt

IMPHAL, May 31: Demanding arrest of culprit(s) involved in the brutal murder of Soram Lakhipyari and her pregnant daughter Monika of Uripok Bachaspati Leikai in Imphal West by June 2, the People’s Action Committee formed against the murder and incensed locals tried to storm the Chief Minister’s bungalow today.

Lakhipyari and Monika who was eight months pregnant were found murdered with their throats slit in their respective rooms yesterday evening. Earlier, a public meeting was held today at Imphal Western Club, Uripok Khumanthem Leikai in connection with the killing of the mother-daughter duo.

Representatives of civil society organisations, meira paibis, club members and general public attended the meeting wherein several resolutions with regard to the killing were adopted.
The public meeting graced by Ema Memchoubi Devi as presidium member demanded the State Government to nab the culprit (s) within three days and conduct a trial in a fast track Court for early justice to the brutal killing.

After the meeting, members of the committee along with irate locals marched towards the CM’s bungalow to submit a memorandum.

Upon reaching Nupi Lan Complex, they were stopped by security personnel. However, several members of the committee were allowed to submit the memorandum to the CM.
Meanwhile, further inquest of the deceased’s residence was conducted today by a team of forensic experts to gather clues that could lead to the arrest of the murderer (s).

Post mortem of the dead bodies which were deposited at RIMS morgue late last night was performed today afternoon in the presence of the Duty Magistrate concerned.
However, the bodies are yet to be claimed by the deceased’s family members.
