Assam Rifles convoy attacked near Aishi Village in Kamjong district

Imphal, December 02 2017: A convoy of Assam Rifles troopers who were reported to have been on their way to conduct medical camp at Aishi Village in Kamjong District were attacked by rebel group by exploding three improvise explosive device at around 5.30 am today morning.

Report reaching here said that a team of D Coy 31 Assam Rifles led by Major Jagannathan were on their way to Aishi village to conduct free medical camp at the village.

When the AR team were supposed to reached the village three IED exploded.

The AR source said that unknown armed militants later fire several rounds of gun shots towards the AR team.

The AR team too retaliated and the exchange of fire reportedly took place for hours.

Till the filing of this story there are no reports of any human casualty.

Following the attack more troops of AR reinforced at the site and the militants reportedly fled after firing some gun shots.

The security forces later cordon the area and conducted search operation.

No arrest has been made so far.
